Mold fitting is one of the most critical steps in the die manufacturing process. All the parts that are processed or purchased must be assembled and functional. Mold fitting requires a comprehensive understanding of mold structure and injection molding. The quality of mold fitting determines the precision of the mold and injection productivity.

Several parts that need to be paid attention to in the assembly mainly affect the quality of the product include:

Core & Cavity

The core and cavity design of the plastic injection molding die to give the final product its shape. The mold core is the internal shape of the mold, and the mold cavity is the external shape of the mold, which means that the core determines the internal shape of the product, and the mold cavity determines the external shape of the product.

Slider & Lifter

Position the hoist in the angular hole of the fixed form. Push the elevator up from the bottom to move the elevator up a certain distance to release the bottom. At this point, the lifter not only moves upward under the action of oblique hole and thrust but also moves a certain distance along the inclined direction of the lifter.

The relationship between:

Slider and Core & Cavity

The Slider ensures that the core and the mold cavity can be separated smoothly and the product can be detached smoothly, and at the same time ensures that there are no gaps between the core and the mold cavity when the mold is closed. Once small gaps appear, small impacts include burr and flash, while large impacts include mold geometry deformation and product failure.

Lifter and Core

The lifter is installed in the tube inside the core so that the product can be ejected more smoothly.

Grinding in Fitting

During fitting, there may be accessories that cannot be installed into the mold due to the size. For example, a part cannot be installed into the designed pipe because the size is 0.01mm larger. At this time, it is necessary to grind the 0.01mm off to enable the part to be installed into the pipe smoothly.

Generally speaking, the fitting of the mold is for the parting surface and parting line of the product without any problems. The cavity and core are respectively responsible for the external and internal shapes of the parts. The Slider ensures that the mold cavity and mold cavity can be separated smoothly and the product can be detached smoothly. Meanwhile, it also ensures that there are no gaps between the mold cavity and mold core when the mold is closed. Once there is a gap, it means that the product is defective or unqualified. A Lifter is a device that ensures that a product can be successfully ejected. When the parts cannot fit into the mold due to the size problem, it needs to be ground to ensure the parts can fit into the mold.

Therefore, if the mold assembly is not rigorous enough, the product defects or unqualified phenomenon will increase. The defects and unqualified products also mean that the mold or parts need to be modified, which greatly increases the cost and greatly prolongs the delivery time, resulting in excessive losses. It can be seen that strict mold assembly ensures product quality and saves time.
